Traveling photos from Iowa to Ukraine, via Germany and Hungary. This was my first trip to Europe, and it was an experience of a lifetime. During our 14 hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany, we decided to do a little site-seeing. Originally built in 1678, Katharinenkirche (St. Catherine's Church) stood tall in the glow of the setting sun. Although the modern skyscrapers towered the skyline, I sensed an awe around this place that couldn't be found in all that glitters and shines towering above. It seemed as if time stood still for just a moment as I gazed lovingly at this simple church. It was bombed in 1944 during WWII, but rebuild between 1950-1954.
